A Path to Publishing Policies

By purchasing a ticket to an event hosted by A Path to Publishing, you agree to the following:

1. Be professional. Sometimes the Internet makes people forget their manners. We require respectful speech and questions from our participants. This keeps things comfortable for our faculty and will serve you well, too. You will make connections in these sessions: with editors, agents, and other writers who might become significant to your career. People appreciate politeness (and rudeness can come back to haunt you later).

2. No pitching. This is a place to learn and get to know people. If and when you are ready to query an agent or editor, you can do that according to their submission policies.

3. Be considerate. Ask questions about the business and the craft that will be of use to everyone, not questions that apply exclusively to your manuscript.

4. Be discreet. You will learn and hear things in these sessions. It’s all right to share a few insights on your blog, Twitter feed, or Facebook page. But please be judicious out of respect for our faculty and out of respect for yourself. Giving too much away diminishes the value of the experience for everyone.

Anyone who misbehaves during a session can be removed; no refunds will be given.

Please note: we can not guarentee that all participants will be able to ask a question. To make the discussion fair and interesting to everyone, questions that are specific to participants' WIP (ex: "In my book I have a boy who") or that repeat what has already been discussed in the presentation will not be allowed.
